Due to complications from pneumonia, Richard Jacob Boyarski left for his heavenly home on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

A Paducah native, Richard was born to Chester and Mary Kilvitis Boyarski on August 5, 1938.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jennie Schmidt Boyarski, brothers Phillip (Brenda) Boyarski and Gary (Diane) Boyarski, daughter Debra R Wallace, granddaughter Amber (Kyle) Sanderson, grandson Matthew (Hailey) Wallace, great grandson Brady Sanderson, and several nieces and nephews as well as special friends Kenny Bremer and  Holly and Sharon Earhart.

Preceding him in death were his parents and son-in- law, Richard Wallace.

Richard graduated from Paducah Tilghman in 1957 and received his Bachelor's Degree from Memphis State  in 1986.  He had two lengthy careers.   Retiring with the rank of Captain, he was a fire fighter with the Paducah City Fire Department for 29 years.  After a short retirement, Richard pursued a real estate license in Kentucky and Florida  and sold real estate for twenty years.

For 18 years, Richard and Jennie were Florida snowbirds.   While there, he was active in the Admiralty Yacht Club Condominium Association serving in several leadership positions including President of the governing board. In 1978, shortly after they married, Richard and Jennie organized Lone Oak First Baptist Church’s Single Adults Sunday School Program and led the ministry for more than  five years.   Over the years Richard and Jennie co-taught various Sunday School classes and served in other leadership positions.

During his lifetime, Richard had several hobbies and interests.  In the late 1960’s, he earned his commercial pilot’s license and owned a Cherokee fixed wing airplane.  He delighted in taking family and friends up for a spin.   Richard’s lifelong passion was fishing.   This took him to various bodies of water and gave him many pleasurable hours. One of his fondest memories was when his family joined him in Branson, Missouri on the White River for a fishing vacation.   Photography and technology also occupied his time.

Travel was another passion.   Hawaii was a favorite vacation destination.   The Bojarski’s and family and friends spent part of January in Hawaii for more than 15 years.  When reminiscing about those January Hawaii trips, he would say “It surely made winter seem a little shorter!”

Family time was always important, and cheering for the grandchildren and great-grandson at their sporting events was a special opportunity.

Visitation and Celebration of Life Service for Richard Boyarski will be held at Milner and Orr of Paducah on Saturday, December 16, 2023.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm followed by his service.
