Richard Bates Anderson

Richard Bates Anderson, 70, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on May 30, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN. A lifelong resident of Paducah, Richard was known for his warmth, humor, and deep love for his family, friends, and community.
 
He was born on August 07, 1954 to Bill and Donna Anderson. He was of Catholic faith. Bates was a graduate of Lone Oak High School. Bates dedicated over 40 years of his career to Atmos Energy in Paducah, where he formed lasting friendships. 
 
Survivors include his wife of 47 years and the love of his life Kathy Hagan Anderson.  His daughter, Sara Anderson of Nashville, Tennessee; his son, Jason Anderson of Paducah and his beloved granddaughter, McCall Anderson.
 
He also leaves behind his sisters, Emily Cothran and Rebecca Anderson, both of Nashville, Tennessee; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Anderson; and his father, William E. Anderson and brother Billy Anderson. 
 
Bates loved spending time at the Land Between the Lakes where he loved hiking, fishing, and spending time with those he loved the most. 
 
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
 
Memorial services will be held at a later date with family and friends.
