Ralph Wayne Watson passed away peacefully at his home in Kevil, Kentucky, on September 16, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on May 21, 1936, in Livingston County, Kentucky, Ralph was a cherished member of the community, a proud veteran of the United States Army, and the respected owner and operator of Ralph Watson's Garage.
Ralph was the epitome of a handyman who claimed he could fix anything that came his way-a trait that endeared him to many. His cheerful, happy-go-lucky nature was complemented by a tough exterior; his warm smile was a welcome sight to everyone. Known for his corny sense of humor, Ralph never missed an opportunity to brighten someone's day.
A devout man of faith, Ralph was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. His legacy is marked by his profound love for his family and his ability to make lasting connections, never having met a stranger. Ralph's spirited presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ralph is survived by two daughters, Wanda Darlene Gibson of Kevil and Kelly Kight (Robert) of Paducah; two brothers, Donald Earl Watson of Evansville, Indiana and twin brother, Robert Dewayne Watson of Muskogee, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Gibson (Jessica), Katelinn Taber (Tod), Zane Watson (Stephanie), Peyton Watson, Paige Lauren Kight, Matthew Hatcher (Halsey) and Madison Kight; two great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Meyer and Magnolia Gibson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Sue Watson; parents, Alvie and Oma Jewel Watson; two sons, Stephen Kent Watson and Michael Wayne Watson; and one brother, James "J.W." Watson.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Jeffrey A. Gibson officiating.
A private graveside service will be held at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
