Pony W. Lykins, Jr., aged 86, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, at Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital. Born on November 12, 1938, in Ashland, Kentucky, Pony was a dedicated servant to his community, devoting a lifetime to the field of pharmacy and the well-being of others.
An esteemed graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, Pony's dedication to his profession was unwavering. He proudly served in the National Guard and spent many years as a trusted pharmacist in various locations. His leadership skills shone brightly during his tenure as President of the Kentucky Pharmacy Association.
Pony was a faithful member of First Baptist Paducah and exemplified brotherhood during his time with Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at the University of Kentucky. His passion for life extended to the great outdoors, where he found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles. His family cherishes memories of endless adventures under the open sky.
A black belt in Karate, Pony's warm, inviting nature and his ever-present smile touched the lives of all he met. He never met a stranger, and it was his trademark to always have a kind word and a small token for those he came across.
Mr. Lykins is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joann Conley Lykins; his son, Dr. Scott Lykins (Tara) of Paducah; and one grandson, Garrett Walker Lykins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pony Lykins, Sr. and Eula Faye Sansing Lykins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Tommy Tucker and Dr. Brian Arnold officiating.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the 2:00 pm service time on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
