Phyllis Elaine Stephenson, born on January 24, 1952, in Cairo, Illinois, passed away at 1:06 a.m. on June 26, 2024, at her cherished home surrounded by the love of her family. Phyllis embraced life as a dedicated housewife, pouring her love into every corner of her home and heart. Her passion for creating beauty was evident through her exquisite floral arrangements, with yellow roses holding a special place in her garden and soul.
Phyllis was renowned for her vibrant personality. Outspoken yet kindhearted, she was a gorgeous spirit whose beauty radiated from the inside out. Her ability to make lasting connections with anyone she met was one of her many gifts. Above all, the joy of her life were her grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished with every fiber of her being.
Phyllis is survived by two sons, Wesley Bartels (Elizabeth Wagoner) of Wickliffe and Earl Bartels (Mary Alice Morgan) of Wickliffe; two sisters, Barbara Hurt of Ironton, MO and Beulah Morgan of Olive Branch, IL; one brother, Clarance Bigham of Olive Branch, Il; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 20 years, John Leonard Stephenson; her parents, Lawrence Henry Bigham and Orpha Lesar Bigham; four sisters, Orpha “Artie” Farris, Billie Sue Hayden, Clara Wilson, Helen Bigham; and five brothers, Bobby Bigham, Lawrence Bigham, Johnny Bigham, Jim Bigham, and Wayne Bigham.
Services will be held Sunday June 30, 2024 at The Cross in Wickliffe at 1:00 p.m.
