Peggy Joanne Dean, 92, of Paducah, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at The Lakes of Paducah. She was born on March 22, 1933, in Paducah, KY, to the late William Russell and Roberta Mullins Russell.
Peggy retired as a respected clerk from United Parcel Service, where her meticulous nature and warm personality made her a favorite among her colleagues. Before her tenure at UPS, Peggy managed the Top Value Stamp Store.
Her passion for community service was evident through her leadership as the past President of Crimestoppers, where she worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of her community. Peggy's involvement with the Citizens Police Academy further demonstrated her commitment to civic duty and her desire to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public.
A member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Peggy found joy in serving her church community in various capacities. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
Peggy's affiliation with the Homemakers club reflected her nurturing soul. She was always ready to cook for those in need, offering comfort through her delicious meals and warm presence. Her generosity extended beyond her kitchen, as she spent many years in the bowling league at Cardinal Lanes, where her infectious smile and friendly demeanor made her a cherished member of the team.
Peggy never met a stranger, approaching each person with an open heart and a kind word. Her family was the center of her universe, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Peggy's garden was a vibrant tapestry of flowers and vegetables, a reflection of her love for nurturing life in all its forms. The art of canning vegetables and pickles was not just a hobby for Peggy; it was a way to share the bounty of her garden and the warmth of her heart.
Peggy is survived by her three daughters, Debby Bruce (Kenneth) Hunt of Alpharetta, GA, Dianne Bruce (John) Whitaker of Lexington, KY, and Shellie Bruce (Ken) Edwards of St. Cloud, FL; her four grandchildren, David (Jai) Riggs of Hackettstown, NJ, Meredith Pritchett (Sean) Hikes of Lexington, KY, Ashley (Shane) Hawkins of Pensecola, FL and Michael Scott (Kailen) Bynum of Fredonia, KY and her six great-grandchildren, Lily Riggs, Jackson Snyder, Amelia Snyder, Chris Pritchett, Cameron Pritchett and Emi Bynum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Scott Dean, and a daughter, Anna-Laura Bynum.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak with Rev. Bruce Fogle officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Paducah. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak.
