Oliver Jessie Long, age 87, of Boaz, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2024, in Marble Hill, Missouri.
Oliver was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 22, 1936. Oliver was a retired roofing contractor and had a passion for horses. He was a gifted rider, spending countless hours training, showing, and selling horses.
Oliver is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice Griffin Long, of Boaz, Kentucky; daughters, Sue Thweatt of Marble Hill, Missouri, Shelia Brown of Jackson, Missouri, Casaundra Newsome of Paducah, Kentucky, and Jania Bailey of Winter Haven, Florida; sons, Wayne Long of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, John Long of Jackson, Missouri, and Byron Watlington, of Boaz, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Jack Watlington; three brothers; a sister; and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
