Michael James Zemen, age 62, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at his residence.
Michael was born in East Chicago, Indiana on May 4, 1961, to the late Kalman and Anne Kranjak Zemen. He was of the Catholic faith. Michael was a gifted mechanic who fell in love with cars at an early age. While living in East Chicago, he was obsessed with building and racing drag cars for himself, customers, and friends. When helping people with their auto mechanic needs, Michael rarely said no and often asked for nothing in return. He donated much of his time to helping care for the vehicles and served as the handyman for Saint Vincent de Paul in Paducah. Many will remember Michael as a funny and charming man who loved to joke around with others.
Michael is survived by his loving partner of 12 years, Norma Cox, of Paducah; a brother, Jimmy Zemen (Susan) of East Chicago, Indiana; two sisters, Joyce Higgins and Carol Ann Zemen; and two nieces, whom he was very proud of, Jamie and Mary Anne Zemen.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Carillo, and his parents.
