Michael Rodger Brannack, 79, of Mayfield, KY, formerly of Douglasville, GA, passed away on January 23, 2025, at 5:45 AM at Mills Nursing & Rehabilitation. Mike was born March 1, 1945, in Michigan to Don and Kay (Best) Brannack.
After leaving Michigan, he made Kentucky his home, where he met his beloved wife, Debbie. Debbie came to purchase a car, but the charming salesman closed the sale and won her heart, leading to their lifelong partnership. The couple later moved to Georgia, where Mike worked in quality assurance at a bottling company.
During their time in Georgia, Mike and Debbie attended First Baptist Atlanta, where they loved listening to Dr. Charles Stanley preach. Mike later attended King’s Way Baptist Church in Douglasville, GA, where he cherished serving alongside his Sunday School class.
Baseball was one of Mike’s lifelong passions, dating back to his childhood in Michigan. He was a walking encyclopedia of baseball players and stats. He was also a devoted Atlanta Braves fan, enthusiastically cheering them on.
Mike is survived by his wife, Debbie Nance Brannack; his siblings, DonnaKay Childers, Larry Brannack (Shirley) of Michigan, and Melanie Stevenson (Dennis) of Illinois; one daughter, Lisa Brannack of Michigan, and his beloved stepdaughter, Mitzi Sahawneh (Faris) of Boaz, KY.
He was a proud grandfather (grandpa) to Ethan Sahawneh (Hannah) of Hickory, Lydia Sahawneh, and Isaac Sahawneh, both of Boaz. Additionally, Mike leaves behind six nephews and two nieces.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Kay Brannack, and his brother-in-law, Emery Childers.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Hardmoney Baptist Church, with Dr. Faris Sahawneh officiating. Visitation will be held at Hardmoney Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A burial will follow at Hardmoney Cemetery.
Mike’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
