Mary Lucille Yates Smith

Mary Lucille Yates Smith, age 80, of Bardwell, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Countryside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Mary was born in Cairo, Illinois on December 12, 1942, to the late Edward and Lucille Trainer Yates. She retired from Radiology Associates of Murray after thirty-plus years of service as an Office administrator. Mary attended Mighty River Baptist Church of Cairo. She loved the Lord and doing things for others. When she could not walk, she would call or send a card and pray. A special thank you to Sue Ray and Don Yates for all they did to take good care of her.

She is survived by her son, Dwayne Smith, Jr. (Janice) of Murray, Kentucky; one sister, Sue Ray (Paul) of Bardwell, Kentucky; two brothers, Albert Yates (Etta) of Paducah, Kentucky, and Don Yates of Bardwell, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Felicity Ahart, Levi Garrett, Aubrey Hendley, Taylor Garrett, Sierra Garrett, and Zeke Brown; and nine great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Dwayne Smith; second husband, Bill Garrett; one daughter, Terri Brown; one brother, Edward Jewell Yates; and her parents.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell, with Rev. Larry Potts and Rev. Mark Burnett officiating; Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the service time of 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
