Mary Ann “Peggy” Gilland, 94, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on July 5, 2024.
Peggy was born on February 10, 1930, in Marion, Kentucky, to the late Virgil and Kathryn Smith Summers. She was of the Baptist faith and worked as an Accounts Receiving Clerk for the OB/GYN Medicine group of Doctors, Priddle, Price, and Kim. Peggy found great joy in hosting her family and creating a home filled with laughter and kindness. Her intricate needlepoint was a testament to her patience and attention to detail. Peggy loved and cherished the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will last through generations. Her legacy of love, hospitality, and creativity will be profoundly missed yet forever celebrated by all who knew her.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jerald David Gilland; two sons, Kevin Gilland and Andy Gilland (Suzy), both of Paducah, Kentucky; brother, Bill Summers (Ellie) of Smithland, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Molly Gilland of Evansville, Indiana, Ryan Gilland of Morehead, Kentucky, Hannah Wright (Alex) of Paducah, Kentucky, and Matt Gilland (Rachel) Gilland of Paducah, Kentucky; five great-grandchildren, Ava Grace Wright, Drew Wright, Willa Wright, Knox Gilland and Raleigh Gilland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Gilland; two sisters, Pat Wicker, and Sarah Bailey; two brothers, Jack Summers and Gene Summers; and her parents.
A Memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Bob Martin officiating.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until the service time of 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
