Marshall Lee "Hank" Shepherd, 78, of Paducah, died February 12, 2025, at Baptist Health Hospital, Paducah.
Marshall was born in Cairo, Illinois, on April 23rd,1946, to Henry Lee Shepherd and Dortha Mayes Shepherd. Known as “Hank” to his family and friends, all would acknowledge his generosity, selflessness, and fun-loving spirit. A graduate of Murray State University with two Master’s degrees (Chemistry and Business Administration), Hank was a veteran of the US Army and worked as Manager of Regulatory Services at Honeywell until he retired after more than 30 years at the same plant. He enjoyed playing golf, watching UK basketball (recorded, after ensuring their victory), and enchanting (and occasionally antagonizing) his grandchildren and pets. He was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Hank is survived by his wife, Janet Brown Shepherd of Paducah; son, Michael (Jodi) Shepherd of Lexington, Kentucky; daughter, Melissa (Cameron) Ditty of Cincinnati; stepdaughter, Alison (Todd Terry) Brown of Murray; brother, Mike (Nancy) Shepherd of Paducah; granddaughter, Daphne Ditty of Cincinnati, Ohio; granddaughter, Millie Ditty of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandson, Linus Ditty of Cincinnati, Ohio; step-granddaughter, Ella Brown-Terry of Lexington; niece, Kim Watson of Paducah, Kentucky; and nephew Steven Shepherd of Lexington, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, Hank was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bob Martin and Jamie Coomer officiating.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at the funeral home.
Instead of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made in Hank’s name to the Lone Oak First Baptist Church Building Fund, 3601 Lone Oak Road, Paducah, KY 42001 or to the McCracken County Humane Society, 4000 Coleman Road, Paducah, KY 42001.
