Marsha Lynn Orr, a devoted educator and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on June 19, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, Marsha pursued her passion for learning by earning a Bachelor's Degree from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and later, a Master's Degree from Murray State University. Marsha was a teacher, administrator, and a supervisor in multiple Western Kentucky School Districts for over 30 years.
Marsha's love for music and theater shone through her involvement with the Paducah Symphony Chorus, singing in church choir at Paducah First Baptist Church, and the Market House Theatre, where she left a lasting impact with her vocal talent and dedication to the arts. Her ability to touch lives extended far beyond the classroom and stage, most adoringly evidenced by the love she held for her granddaughters.
Her radiant spirit and the melody of her life will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Marsha's legacy as an educator, musician, and loving grandmother will forever resonate in the hearts of her family, friends, and students.
Marsha is survived by a daughter, Shannon (Jonathan) Stewart of Chattanooga, Tennessee; a son, Jason (Carrie) Hurt of Milan, Tennessee; six granddaughters, Sammie Stewart, Caroline Hurt, Carlee Hayse Stewart, Addie Stewart, Stella Stewart, and Lynnley Hurt; a brother, Chuck (Lisa) Wilkins of Paducah; and a nephew, Luke (Lexy) Wilkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Mildred “Millie” Wilkins.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Pastor Josh Sinquefield officiating. Burial will follow at Brookhill Cemetery in Paducah, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the service hour of 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
