Loretta Slankard, age 77, a cherished and esteemed member of the Paducah, Kentucky community, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at Baptist Health, leaving behind a legacy of professional dedication and personal passion. Born on October 26, 1946, in Paducah, Loretta's early life was rooted in local education, having graduated from Lone Oak High School in 1964 and then Paducah Community College. Her academic endeavors laid the groundwork for a remarkable career, culminating in her respected position as vice president of Home Federal Savings and Loan.
Loretta's commitment extended beyond her professional endeavors. As an active member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ, her faith and fellowship with others stood as a testament to her character. Her love for raising show horses and playing golf showcased her zest for life and the outdoors, reflecting the diverse interests that brought joy to her and many around her. Loretta will be dearly missed, and her enduring spirit will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mrs. Slankard is survived by her son, Paul B. Howard of Calvert City, Kentucky; her sisters, Lorain Justice (Phil) of Paducah and Deloris Sevenski (Steve) of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Max, Kathryn, Hope and Sawyer Howard, and Lexie Wyatt; her great grandchildren, Lucy and Lacy Wyatt, and Wyatt Gilland.
Mrs. Slankard was preceded in death by her son, John Clayton Howard; her parents, John H. Clark and Grace Evelyn Seaton Clark; her sister, Mary Jane Taylor; her brother, Billy Hampton.
A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Phil Justice officiating. An urn burial will follow.
There will be no visitation.
