Linda Jenkins, of Boaz, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on Wednesday, November 13, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, Linda's warm heart and vibrant spirit enriched the lives of all who knew her. For 22 years, Linda was a dedicated and friendly bus driver for the McCracken County School System, safely transporting countless children with unwavering commitment.
Her role was more than just a job; it was an opportunity for her kindness to shine daily.
As a devoted member of the Southland Baptist Temple, her faith was a cornerstone of her life. It inspired her deep commitment to serving others, which earned her the esteemed title of Kentucky Colonel and Duchess of Paducah.
Linda’s loving and spirited nature left an indelible mark on many. Her legacy of kindness, encouraging demeanor, and genuinely welcoming presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her or cross paths with her.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her daughters, Cathy Hillmann (Andrew) of Shalimar, Florida, and Cindy Medford (Wendell) of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; her son, Clay Jenkins (Tracy) of Boaz; her brother, Nelson Foster Shelby of Paducah, Kentucky; her grandchildren, DJ Story (Amanda), Hunter Hillmann (Haley), Madison Bevacqua, Maxwell Medford, and Bart Hatton (Lea Ann); five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Jenkins (Cindy's twin); her parents, Lee Orden Shelby and Annie Christine Clay Shelby; and her sister, Janice Lee Faughn.
A memorial celebration of Linda's life is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah with Pastor Larry Luffman officiating.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the funeral home.
