Larry Thomas Lane

Larry Thomas Lane, 83, formerly of Paducah, KY, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Calyx Senior Living Center in Fuquay Varina, NC. He struggled the last several years with Parkinson’s Disease, but is now at home, well and whole, with his Savior.
 
Larry was a graduate of Lone Oak High School, class of 1959. He went on to become an electrician, and was a proud member of IBEW, Local 816 in Paducah, KY. He was a husband, father, brother and uncle, and a friend to all who had the good fortune to know him. He loved fast cars – especially Camaros and Corvettes, a number of which he was blessed to own in his lifetime. His favorite pastime was drag racing. In his younger years, he co-managed West Kentucky Dragway, now Beacon Dragway, with his friend and brother in law, Smitty Simons. Between the two, there wasn’t an engine that couldn’t be built, fixed or made to go faster. They were a dynamic duo.
 
Larry and his late wife Linda reared their family in Reidland in the midst of close-knit extended family. They provided shelter and love – and so many fun times – to their family, friends and neighbors. Their home was filled with laughter and love, providing rich memories to all who knew and loved them.
 
Larry and Linda moved to Fuquay Varina, NC in 2004 to be closer to their daughter and her family. Larry became a beloved fixture in the community, holding court in the local McDonalds while sharing wisdom and wisecracks with his many friends. He was active in his church, Fuquay Varina Church of Christ, where he loved and was loved by all, especially the children. His faith grew exponentially, and he was a shining Christian example.
 
Larry is survived by his daughter, Kendra Lane Douros, his son-in-law Jon Douros, his granddaughter Kelsie Douros, his grandson Jonathan Douros and his wife Katie, and great-granddaughter Claudette Douros. Also surviving are his brother RT Lane, Jr. and his wife Norma of Paducah, and his brother Ronnie Lane of Lone Oak, as well as many nieces and nephews.
 
He is predeceased by his wife Linda Morrison Lane, his son, Barry Linn Lane, his parents Raymond Thomas and Thelma Lucille Lane, his brother James Lane and his sister Nancy Lane Long. What a joyous reunion there must be in Heaven!
 
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, February 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Milner and Orr Funeral Home,120 Memorial Drive, Paducah, KY 42001. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
