Larry Oliver Conway, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on Sunday, August 6, 1944, in Paducah, Kentucky, Larry was a Ballard Memorial High School graduate of 1962 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Master's degree in Agricultural Science from Murray State University.

Larry served his country with great honor as a First Lieutenant in the US Army during the Vietnam War, where he was recognized with a Purple Heart, and later continued his service with the US Coast Guard. Following his military career, from 1969-1972, he was a sales representative with EM Bailey Company, after which, he was the owner/operator of a 1,100 acre grain farm. From 1973-1975 he was employed as a General Science teacher with the Ballard County Board of Education. Larry worked for 23 years, 1984-2007 at the United States Enrichment Corporation as a Commander in the  Protective Force Division, until retiring in 2007.

An avid sportsman, especially UK Basketball, Larry enjoyed an active lifestyle filled with exercising, weightlifting, and running. His love for sports was only surpassed by the joy he found in moments shared with his beloved family. A dedicated member of the McKendree Church, where he served in the Clothes Closet after his retirement. Larry served on multiple “Little Egypt Walk to Emaus” spiritual retreats and greeted Walmart customers with his engaging smile. His strong faith and boundless kindness touched all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed for his devotion, courage, and the warm light of his presence.

Mr. Conway is survived by his wife, Carol Hartley Conway; his daughter, Tracy Lee Douglas (Rich) of Paducah; his son Dr. Kyle Vernon Conway (Hillary) of Hanson, Kentucky; his sister, Theresa Elliott (Whitey) of Lovelaceville, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Natalie Elizabeth Hutchins, Myles Oliver Conway, and Kenna Hayden Conway.

Mr. Conway was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Lee Conway, Jr. and Margaret “Bennie” Benson Oliver Conway.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Bill Miller Officiating.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Funeral Home.

Burial with Military Honors is Scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
