Kathleen Marie Reck Comte, aged 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025, at Baptist Health Paducah. Born on May 14th, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois, Kathleen dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home, always putting her family first. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering support made her the heart of her household, where she nurtured those she loved with care and devotion.
A devout Catholic, Kathleen's dedication to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mayfield, Kentucky was evident in her faithful attendance. She found great comfort in her faith, showing her devotion through active participation in weekly Mass and the Rosary.
She was the bright light and unwavering support at every grandchild’s sporting event and school program, always cheering them on with pride from the stands. Her sharp wit, big heart, and love of true-crime stories reflected her keen curiosity about the world. A passionate fan of game shows, Kathleen’s competitive nature came alive as she eagerly played along, always aiming to win and never shying away from a challenge. She also found joy in her flowers and in creating a beautiful home, embracing life with a love for simple pleasures.
Kathleen’s warmth extended to the nicknames she lovingly gave to her friends and family, a reflection of her unique way of showing love. Her presence will be deeply missed, as her kindness and genuine care touched the hearts of everyone she knew.
She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Isaac “Ike” Comte of Mayfield, Kentucky; two daughters, Jennifer Marie Reck Hrdlicka and Kelly Ann Reck (Kent) Leggs, both of Paducah; two sons, Patrick William (Nikki) Reck and Christopher Anthony (Rachel) Reck, both of Paducah, Kentucky; two sisters, Nancy (Denny) Winne and Susie (Jeff) Smith, both of Peoria, Illinois; three brothers, Tim (Cindy) Salmon, Matt (Beth) Salmon and Mike (Becki) Salmon, all of Peoria, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Kaitlin Hrdlicka, Kylee Cole, Colin Hrdlicka, Aidan Hrdlicka, Ollie Reck, Kyan Leggs, and Tatum Reck; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice James Salmon and Joanne Marie Friedman Salmon.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 11, 2025 at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Fr. Luke Spannagel will officiate and Burial of Ashes will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Philomena Parish.
