June Bunting, 92 of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away on February 11, 2025, at Metropolis Rehabilitation Health Care Center in her hometown. She was born on June 27, 1932, in Metropolis to the late Gilbert and Mabel Meinders Pansing.
June was a devoted member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Metropolis. As a lifelong member, June's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She was baptized, confirmed, and married within the walls of St. Paul's, where she also shared her talents by sewing banners, and serving the congregation as an organist and pianist whenever needed.
June worked 25 years in the office at United Cities Gas in Metropolis. She was a familiar face to many Metropolis residents. She was an enthusiastic sports fan. She loved traveling and exploring new places. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting, crafting beautiful pieces that were both practical and artistic. Her handiwork was a testament to her patience and attention to detail. June loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
June is survived by her daughter, Bernice Buldtman of Metropolis, IL; her two sons Donald E. (Paula) Bunting of Metropolis, IL and Darrell L. (DeLisa) Bunting of Metropolis, IL; her five grandchildren, Bryan (Meredith) Bunting, Amanda Shelby, Sarah (Toni) Buldtman, Matthew (Heather) Hape and Lauren (Hunter Thomson) Bunting; six great-grandchildren, Ethan Shelby, Mia Bunting, Georgia Bunting, Ayla Hape, Bryan Chaney and Keira Chaney; one sister-in-law, Helen Pansing; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Mabel Meinders Pansing; her husband, Jimmie Bunting; two sisters, Elnor Bunting and an infant sister and one brother, Maurice Pansing.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Metropolis, IL with Rev. Timothy A. Bean officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 PM at the church.
