Judy J. Doherty, age 84, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 10:20 A.M. Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitaton Center.
Judy was born in Paducah on Monday, October 23, 1939 to Sherman and Dorothy Gillespie. She was raised on a farm, and loved animals and being outdoors. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and caring for, over a span of more than 40 years, her harness race horses and quarter horses. She loved to play golf, swim and most any other sports. She was a member of First Christian Church, Master Gardeners and Christian Women Fellowship. Judy was a hard worker both in the barn and the office, as the retired owner/operator of Electrolysis of Paducah, and a former co-owner of Draughon’s Business College and Bluegrass Downs.
Mrs. Doherty is survived by her special nieces, Marsha Reynolds and Deborah Fowler (Steve); her cousins, Michele Venable (James), Sherman Lauder (Cheryl) and Eva Mae McMahan (Bill); her special friends, Pam and John Fletcher.
Mrs. Doherty was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel “Danny” J. Doherty; her parents, Sherman Gillespie and Dorothy Helen VanHooser Gillespie; her aunt and uncle, Jean and Everett Lyles; her sister-in-law, Donna Dexter; her cousin, Bruce Gillespie.
A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 26, 2024 at Mt. Kenton Cemetery with Rev. Linda Creason officiating.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-12:30 P.M. Monday, February 26, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
