Joyce Baker of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on February 20, 2026, after a fulfilling life marked by service, beauty, and her devotion to her loved ones. Born on August 14, 1948, in Metropolis, Illinois, Joyce grew to become a dazzling presence within her community.
Her professional journey as a cosmetologist began shortly after completing her education, where Joyce dedicated 32 years of her life to the craft of beauty and style. Renowned for her work at Carl's Beauty Salon and Fun Cuts, Joyce made a lasting impression as the epitome of fashion and grace. Her precise attention to detail and pursuit of perfection ensured that each client left her chair not just looking their best, but feeling it as well.
Beyond her talent in cosmetology, Joyce had a knack for brightening the days of those around her. She was a true people person, with an infectious enthusiasm that drew others to her warm and welcoming spirit. Her charisma and kindness were especially evident through her service at nursing home salons, where she enhanced the dignity and joy of the residents with her compassionate touch.
Her hobbies and interests were a reflection of Joyce's vibrant personality. As a passionate fashion connoisseur, she never failed to present herself with elegance and flair. Adding to this, she was a great cook who delighted in sharing her savory homemade coconut cake, a family favorite. Joyce was a member of the Eastern Star, where she built strong bonds and influenced lives through her participation and fellowship.
Most importantly, Joyce adored her family. She was the cornerstone of her kin, offering endless support and embodying love through her every action. Joyce Baker's presence was a gift to those who knew her, and her memory will be safeguarded in the legacy she leaves.
Joyce is survived by one daughter, Britney B. Baker (Brett) of Camden, Tennessee; three sons, Marcus R. Baker (Melissa) of Benton, Sean F. Baker of Lone Oak, and Allen R. Baker; one sister, Linda Harrison (David) of Springfield, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Christopher Baker, George Allen Lewis, Alexia Kilgore, Chance Baker, Lily Baker, Claire Baker, and Ella Baker; three great grandchildren, Isla Baker, Ryder Sinks, and Rylee Sinks; one special niece who was like a daughter to her, Lisa Williamson of Brookport, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Carl Ramon Baker; her father, Thomas H. Babb; her mother, Lona Jones Babb Hillebrand; and one son, Carl “Carlus” Ramon Baker II.
A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak with Rev. Brent Morris officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. and continue until the service starts at 1 P.M.
