Joyce A. Hayes, 83 of Paducah passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 4, 1941 in Gadsden, AL to Melvin Pickens Johnson and Flimer Flossie Leath.
Joyce loved ballroom dancing and found joy in the rhythm and elegance of dance. Her dedication to her faith was evident through her church life at Southland Baptist Temple, where she formed many cherished friendships. Joyce's love for gardening brought beauty to the world through creating spaces filled with color and life. Above all, Joyce's family was the center of her universe. Her grandchildren, who were her life's delight, will carry forward her legacy of love.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 66 years, Larry D. Hayes of Paducah; a son, Larry D. (Tina Teague) Hayes JR. of Paducah and a daughter, Tammy (Marvin) Hobbs of Paducah; one brother, Mike (Tammy) Gaskin of Attala, AL; several step-brothers and step-sisters; a grandson, Jason Wayne Hines of Paducah and two great-grandchildren, Cy Bradley Hines and Greyson Louis Hines. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Johnson.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2024 in the Chapel at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah. There will be no visitation. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of local arrangements.
