His dedication to Paducah was recognized through numerous accolades, including being named the 2006 Paducah Citizen of the Year, bestowed the title of Duke of Paducah by former Mayor Gayle Kaler, and honored as a Colonel of Kentucky by former Governor Steve Beshear.

His passions extended to the outdoors, where he loved hunting, and to the kitchen, where he reveled in cooking. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandsons.
