John Carter, 73, of Arlington, Kentucky, passed away, on April 22, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by hard work, dedication, and time spent doing what he enjoyed most.
Following high school, John served two years in the National Guard. He went on to become a longtime member of the IBEW, working for over 40 years before retiring from Ford Motor Company. Throughout his career, he was known as a dependable and steady worker.
In his free time, John enjoyed being outdoors. He spent time working in his garden, tinkering with tractors, and keeping busy with hands-on projects. He also valued time spent with friends and the simple routines of everyday life.
John was especially proud of his grandchildren and spoke of them often. They were a constant source of joy in his life, and he loved celebrating their accomplishments and supporting them in all they did.
John is survived by his daughter, Johnna (Davey) Martin of Arlington; grandchildren, Alaunah Martin and Easton Martin; his father, James Carter of Arlington; sister, Gina Webb of Arlington; nephews, Jeremy Webb, Jerod Webb, and Kyle Webb; several great-nieces and great nephews; longtime companion, Cynthia Winchester; Cynthia’s daughters, Laura (Johnny) Ward and Lee Winchester; and his former step-daughter, Shannon Hodges, who he remained close to.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Carter.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington, with Dustin Dillon and Bro. Rick Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service time of 1:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
