John Arthur Strakal

John Arthur Strakal, 93, of Paducah, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Baptist Health Paducah.
 
John was born in Pursglove, West Virginia on April 3, 1928 to the late John H. and Gertrude Hamrick Strakal.  He was a member of Paducah First Baptist Church.  John served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps.  He received his Doctorate in Optometry in Chicago and operated his own Optometry office in Metropolis for over 40 years.  
 
John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Stallons Strakal, of Paducah; one son, John A. Strakal of St. Petersburg, Florida; one step-son, David (Sandra) Guess of Paducah; one step-daughter, Paula (David) Theobald of Oceanside, California; one sister, Ethel Cox of Chillicothe, Ohio; five grandchildren, Josh (Lindsey) Guess, Shannon (Daniel) Cooke, Elizabeth (Charlie) Witt, Melissa Theobald and Nathan Theobald; and five great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Strakal and his parents. 
 
A private family entombment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.  Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
