James "Jim" Ray Kerr, aged 72, born on May 2, 1952, in Clinton, was called home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2025, while at Continue Care Hospital within Baptist Health Paducah.

Jim attended Burkley Baptist Church, where he was recently saved by the Lord, and where he strengthened his faith and fellowship. He was also well known for his morning ritual—a daily cup of coffee at Jen’s Restaurant or Beards and Roses in Columbus. As a farmer for most of his life, Jim found solace in the land that he owned, which he loved and cherished.

Jim is survived by his lifelong friend, Tim Swartz, of Columbus, Kentucky; his caretaker and friends, Mike Grimmitt, of Columbus, Kentucky, and Devin Newsome, of Bardwell, Kentucky; and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and James Ray Kerr, and his sister.

Graveside Service will be on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Columbus City Cemetery, with Bro. Roger Wood officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Arlington.

Expressions of Sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
