James "Jim" William Tyler, 91, of Paducah, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Baptist Health in Paducah.

He was born in Arlington on September 26, 1931 to the late W.R. and Lucy Lambert Tyler.  He attended Lone Oak First Baptist Church.

Jim served his country as a Staff Sergeant with the United State Air Force, then continued his service in the Reserves. When he saw the ad, he knew that job had his name on it. The company had a branch in Alabama, allowing him to fly between locations.

After retirement, he and his wife moved to Paducah, where they enjoyed their garden. Jim and Charlotte enjoyed cruises and exploring islands, especially with family joining them.

James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Mattingly Tyler of Paducah; a daughter, Andrea (Bob) Preston of Cumming, Georgia; a son, Jeff (Nancy) Tyler of Wilmington, North Carolina; two sisters, Bettie Ferguson and Helen (Philip) Hocker, both of Arlington; four brothers, Robert (Sylvia) Tyler of Kevil, Ralph Tyler of Arlington, Kenneth Tyler of Arlington and LH (Mary Jane) Tyler of Arlington; three grandchildren, Chad Tyler, Morganne Turberville and Evan Preston; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Miles Turberville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Merlin Tyler; a sister, Dottie Ivey; and his parents.
