James William Holder

James William Holder, 86, of Bardwell, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at his home in Bardwell.
 
James was born on November 15, 1935 to the late Zera Holder and Marie Caldwell Holder.  He was of the Baptist faith. James served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was a river boat captain for 42 years.  James loved the Kentucky Wildcats, camping, traveling, fishing, and car races.  One of his greatest enjoyments was traveling to Canada.
 
James is survived by one daughter, Brenda Morgan of Bardwell; one son, James William Holder III (Cathryn) of Spring Valley, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Misty Holder, Max Holder, Tonya Phelps, Kimberly Holder, James Buster Holder, Sheri Holder, and Megan Hauger; and several great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren.
 
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Trudy Steinbeck Kopecky; two sisters, Katheryn Hogancamp and Carolyn Wathen; one grandchild, James Lynn Holder; and his parents.
 
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery with Bro. Shane Davenport Officiating.
 
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
