James Stephen Gourley, 70 of Melber went home to be with the Lord on Saturday July 1st.
James was born to Garvice and Margie Gourley on October 16th, 1952 in Cunningham Ky, the youngest of four children.
Jim loved holiness preaching and drove his family many miles to be in services to hear great men of God. He made many lifelong friends along the way and devoted himself to being a supporter and encourager of preachers. He could spend hours telling about the sermons he had heard and the many miracles and moves of God he had been witness to or heard about in those sermons. In one of his last testimonies he was quoted “I am well pleased with Him, and I hope in Judgment day He is well pleased with me.”
James is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Philip Gourley, one sister Louise Burnett, one son James Artie Gourley, and an infant daughter Susanna Gourley.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 53 years Anna Gourley of Melber, one daughter Amy (Darin) Harp of Bardwell, one son Stephen Wayne (Amanda) Gourley of Melber, one daughter in law Keri Gourley of Bardwell, one sister Ann Burnett of Cunningham, His greatest prides and joy, his 6 grandchildren, James Lee Harp, Adrianna Gourley, Kayli Gourley, Skyler Gourley, Hannah Harp and Jackson Gourley, many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Glory Barn Holiness Church with Rev. Dathan Guthrie and Rev. TL Futrell officiating. Burial will follow at Glory Barn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the 1:00 pm service time on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Glory Barn Holiness Church.
