James Richard Stubblefield, age 70, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. “Dickey”, as he was known to those close to him, was born on February 4, 1954, in Paducah, and was a proud graduate of Southern Illinois University, where he earned his Engineering degree.
Dickey spent his career as a diligent Power Plant Engineer, bringing expertise and dedication to his field. His professional passion was matched only by his love for the great outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, Dickey cherished the serene beauty of nature and the simple joys of life.
A faithful member of the World Harvest Church of Paducah, he lived his life with kindness and conviction, touching the lives of many. Dickey's enduring legacy is one of hard work, devotion to his community, and an unwavering love for God's creation. His spirit and joyfulness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Stubblefield is survived by his daughters, Holly Marie Smith (Nathan) of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Kellyn Rose Whittaker (Catherine) of Paducah; his sons, Marvin Whittaker of Clarksville, Tennessee, Ryan Boyd Whittaker, Donovan Scott Stubblefield of Paducah, and James Daniel Stubblefield (Barbara) of Paducah; his sisters, Teresa Gail Stubblefield of Paducah, and Deborah Lou Casale of Cocoa Beach, Florida; his brother, Rodney Neil Bumpus of Paducah; his grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Deven Smith, Susan Stubblefield, and Taylen Whittaker.
Mr. Stubblefield was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Susan Marie Claggett Stubblefield; his parents, James Sloan Stubblefield and Winifred Menser Walker; and his grandson, James Paul Stubblefield.
An urn burial will take place at a later date this spring.
