James (Jim) Avery McIntyre, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 22, 2025, at the age of 81.
Jim was born July 7, 1943, in Troy, Tennessee, to the late Abe and Leola (Ellegood) McIntyre. He was a proud graduate of South Fulton High School. After high school, Jim honorably served his country by joining the US Navy, where he earned the rank of E-5 on the USS McCaffery (DD-860).
Jim was deeply faithful as a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Bardwell, Kentucky, and a past member of the Parish Council. He also served his community as a member of the Carlisle County School Board for 12 years and by volunteering countless hours at the Carlisle County Fair Board and the Sports League.
Jim was a retired Quality Assurance Supervisor from the Westvaco Paper Mill. After retiring, he started a nursery growing various plants and flowers. He enjoyed spending time outdoors in his garden or on his tractor, fishing, or cooking something on the BBQ pit. Jim was a jack-of-all-trades eager to lend a hand to family and friends and always had a project or two going. He loved watching the UK Wildcats but more so loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue Ray McIntyre; two sons, Mike (Nicki) McIntyre, of Bardwell, and Scott (Crystal) McIntyre, of Bardwell; four grandchildren, Leslie, Dallas, Cye, and Cash McIntyre; four great-grandchildren, Anna, River, Drayden, and Karter; along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry McIntyre, and sister, Rose Leverett.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Shawn McIntyre, and a sister, Ruth Ann Fowler.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Bardwell, with Fr. Chrispin Oneko officiating. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to Mass. All guests are encouraged to wear casual attire.
