James Gordon Pittman, age 78, of Wickliffe, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Mercy Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
James was born in Cairo, Illinois, on March 18, 1946, to Elena Sandoval Pittman and the late James Warren Pittman. He was a Wickliffe First Baptist Church member and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country in Vietnam.
James obtained his Master's Degree in Education and taught briefly before joining the family farming operations, where they raised cattle, row crops, and tobacco. He loved to work and, after a brief retirement, began driving a log truck to local mills. James always loved to help others and never missed an opportunity to lend a hand to those in need.
James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon Wilson Pittman of Wickliffe; two sons, Wilson (Cas) Pittman of Decatur, Georgia, and Warren (Sally) Pittman of Aiea, Hawaii; his mother, Elena Sandoval Pittman; three sisters, Linda (Miles) Todd of Murray, Jeanne Maupin of Jenks, Oklahoma, and Pam Martin of Wickliffe; a brother, Neil (Linda) Pittman of Wickliffe; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Justin, Jessica, Kaley, Nathan and Juliana Pittman; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Warren Pittman.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with Bro. Larry Fraser and Bro. Butch Latta officiating. Burial will follow at Wickliffe City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
