James Boyce Ellegood, born on May 21, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, has left this world on January 29, 2025, in Bardwell, Kentucky, leaving behind a legacy of service, skill, and the joy of life's simple pleasures. A proud United States Army veteran, James dedicated himself to a life of discipline and commitment that extended beyond his military service.
With skilled hands and a creative spirit, James found solace and delight in woodworking and the art of refinishing furniture. His ability to transform the worn into the wonderful was not just a hobby but a true passion. He was a familiar face at state auctions, always eager to uncover hidden treasures and breathe new life into them.
An adventurer at heart, James loved to travel, seeking new experiences and making memories along the way. His warm presence and the tales of his adventures will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
James is survived by three sons, Terry Ellegood of Dallas, Texas, Gary Ellegood of Dallas, Texas, and Russell Ellegood of Arlington, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Tremon (Carol) Ellegood of Peoria, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Jo Ann Richardson Ellegood; and his parents, Luther James and Hazel Rickman Ellegood.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Bro. Keith Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
