Jack Dale Glass passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky. He was born on September 16, 1948, in Metropolis, Illinois, to the late Dale and Audrey Glass.

Jack attended Metropolis High School, Paducah Junior College, and Murray State University. Throughout college and beyond, he worked as an ironworker and helped to construct the I-24 bridge. He later worked for B&W Construction Co. as a Job Superintendent over the Northern U.S. Jack finally settled down at SIPC in Marion, IL, where he worked as Maintenance Supervisor for over 40 years.

Jack was a man of many talents. Baseball was his chosen sport, and he played with Breds Baseball team at MSU. He then coached his sons throughout their high school years. He was an excellent craftsman, building his home in 1982, along with his barn and garage. Restoring old cars and trucks was also a passion. He enjoyed quail hunting, especially in the company of friends, and alongside his dogs Scout and Finn.

Jack was a man of faith, a member of Heartland Church in Paducah, KY where he was a part of the The Dwelling Sunday School Class. Jack and his wife Cheryl traveled internationally including several trips to Indonesia to visit their son and his family who are missionaries there. He also participated in a mission trip to Mexico in recent years. Family was the center of Jack’s life and he was a devoted family man. The joy of his life were his 8 grands and 3 great-grands.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl Wyatt Glass of Metropolis; one daughter, Candice E. Martin and husband Jimmy of Metropolis; twin sons Marcus D. Glass and wife Leslie of Metropolis, and Matthew W. Glass and wife Amanda of Bali, Indonesia; 8 grandchildren: Isabella White and husband Khalil, Halle Glass, Madeline Glass, Emma Glass, Aidan Glass, Elliot Glass, Owen Glass, and Andrew Glass; 3 great-grandchildren: Saint White, Kreu White, and Willow White; three step-grandchildren, James Ryan Martin and wife, Katie, Nate Martin and wife, Kelsey and Careece Glass and husband Jacob; one step great-grandchild, Arie’Anna White; one sister, Lavonne Goins; and one brother, Dan Glass (Christie).

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Heartland Church in Paducah, with Dr. Nathan Joyce officiating. Family will receive visitors immediately preceding the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Graveside service and interment will follow at Massac Memorial Gardens.
