Harold Cortland Givens

Harold Cortland Givens, 91, of Benton, Kentucky passed away at 5:38 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Paducah. He was born in Butler County, Kentucky on March 1, 1933 to the late Roy Alvis Givens, Sr. and Mamie Ora Porter Givens. Harold was a retired Chemist from Vanderbilt Chemical Company. He was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church in Benton and the Veterans of Forgein Wars Post 1084 of Benton, Kentucky. Harold served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
 
He is survived by two sons, Michael Wayne Givens and wife, Ashley of Benton, Kentucky and Harold Alvis Givens and wife, Sandy of Reidland, Kentucky; grandson, Dylan Givens and wife, Elizabeth of Kuttawa, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Anna Maria Givens of Louisville, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
 
Harold was preceded in death by three sisters, Marvene Dick, Eunis McCoy and Lorrel Stephens; three brothers, Forrest Osbin Givens, Samuel Presley Givens, Roy Alvis Givens, Jr. and his parents.
 
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Union Baptist Church in Morgantown, Kentucky with Jeff Russell officiating. Urn burial with military rites will follow at the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
 
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
