Hubert Glenn Rudd, age 71, of Smithland, Kentucky, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at his residence.
Glenn was born in Paducah, Kentucky on June 14, 1952, to the late Hubert Franklin and Rosie Jones Rudd. Glenn spent his career igniting young minds with the wonders of science and contributed significantly to education by working with McGraw Hill on teachers' curriculum development. His outstanding commitment to education was recognized in 1990 when he was honored as Hopkins County Middle School Teacher of the Year.
Glenn was a faithful member of Paradise United Methodist Church. He was a man of diverse interests. His love for technology, biology, science, and astronomy was matched by his passion for the University of Kentucky Wildcat’s basketball. In his younger days, Glenn's melodious voice graced a gospel quartet, and he continued to express his creativity through woodworking, refinishing furniture, and antiquing. He also found joy in the kitchen, where he loved to cook. To all who knew him, Glenn was the embodiment of intelligence, handiness, and analytical thought. His presence will be missed by friends, colleagues, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. Glenn was dearly loved by his wife Patti, son Eric, and his rescue dog, Dusty. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Rudd is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia “Patti” Mangum Rudd; son, Eric Glenn Rudd of Murray, Kentucky; brother Van J. Rudd (Debra) of Paducah, Kentucky; and two nieces, Lauren Kreher and Allison Rudd.
He was preceded in death by his brother John Marvin Rudd; and his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Pastor Collin Stoneking officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the service time of 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
