Glenda Montgomery, born March 7, 1934, in Centralia, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at Stone Creek Health and Rehabilitation. An accomplished businesswoman, Glenda was the proprietor of "The Baby Shop" and a beloved ceramics store. Her exceptional skills as an office manager shined brightly during her tenure at an Independent Oil Company.
Not only was she a savvy entrepreneur, but she was also an active and vibrant member of the First Christian Church of Paducah and the Daughters of the Nile. Glenda's love for life was paralleled by her passion for golf, achieving recognition as an A Flight Golfer, and her melodic voice adorned the church choir as a cherished soprano.
Her artistic talents were multifaceted, from reupholstering furniture with a unique flair to creating beautiful oil paintings. Glenda's ingenuity and cleverness knew no bounds. She will be remembered as a woman who could unravel any challenge with grace and determination.
Glenda is survived by her daughter, Kathy Schell (Dr. David Schell) of Paducah; two grandsons, Monty Schell (Christen) and Will Schell; and four great-grandchildren, Owen Schell, Jack Schell, Chaney Schell and Mason Schell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Montgomery; her parents, Albert and Helen Oshel; and her brother, Jerry Oshel.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Gaither Suites, Baptist Health Paducah, Stone Creek Health and Rehabilitation and Mercy Health Hospice for the exceptional care that was afforded Glenda.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
