Gerald A. Harrison, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Lourdes-Mercy Health in Paducah Kentucky.
Born on October 7, 1947, Gerald led a life marked by dedication and service. He was a respected veteran of the U.S. Army, where he nobly served as a Huey helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. After his military career, Gerald found his calling as a Machinist, retiring from Continental General Tire following diligent work at Illinois Central Railroad and Southside Machine Shop.
Gerald's passion for the outdoors was second to none. An avid sailboater, he voyaged to numerous destinations, reveling in the freedom of the seas. His love for adventure was also evident in his enthusiasm for motorcycles, equestrian pursuits, and his remarkable woodworking skills.
A devoted family man, Gerald's greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and loved ones. His presence as a steadfast parishioner at Lone Oak Church of Christ will be profoundly missed. Gerald's indomitable spirit and heartwarming smile leave a legacy of perseverance and love.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Scott Harrison; a daughter, Leigh Renee Harrison (Tom) of Princeton, Kentucky; a son, Gerald Michael Harrison (Cathy) of Lexington, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Zachary Scott Harrison, Rachel Alexandria Harrison, Shane William Patterson, Sloane Taylor Patterson, and Shaye Thomas Patterson; four great-grandchildren, Abel, Arlo, Owen, and Hazel; two brothers, Larry Rainey and Kenny Rainey both of Lone Oak; brother’s-in-law, Ron and Christy Scott of Alabama, Rick and Dulcinea Scott of South Carolina, and Jeff and Beverly Scott of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Donna and Mike Toon of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Rainey; his parents were, Alvin and Mary Pearl McDill Rainey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Paul Wingfield officiating. A private family burial will follow.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the service hour of 1:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
