George Lewis Spencer, 93, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at NHC Place Sumner in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Mr. Spencer was born on February 16, 1930 to the late George W. and Lucille Phelps Spencer in Kenton, Tennessee. He was a longtime member of Broadway Church of Christ and The Grand Lodge of Kentucky F. & A.M. #127. George was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a retired Shift Supervisor with the Tennessee Valley Authority for 33 years. He was an avid gardener having enjoyed growing a large garden and supplying his family and friends with lots of produce. He loved woodworking and making clocks. George also loved to fish and go camping, spending lots of summers at Kentucky Lake and winters on Lake Okeechobee in Florida.
The Spencer family would like to thank the staff of NHC Place Sumner for their professional and loving care they provided for George.
George is survived by his two sons, Dennis R. Spencer and wife Kathy of Gallatin, Tennessee and George R. Spencer and wife, Evelyn of Pickerington, Ohio; five grandchildren, Allison Milliken (Martin), Kristin Spearman (Chuck), Lindsay Spencer, Paige Spencer and Evan Spencer (Nicole); ten great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Jenkins Spencer and a sister, Lou Ella Spencer Williamson.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Andy Clausen officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
