Frank Carvell passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025 after a brief illness at his home surrounded by his wife, Sharon and five furry friends, Ryker, Kate, Callie, Sis, and Casey.
Frank Rupert Carvell Jr. was born on March 10, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio and was adopted son of Ann Tracy Carvell and Frank R. Carvell Sr. of Avon Lake, Ohio. They later moved to Rialto, California and finally settled in Paducah in 1961.
Frank attended Clark Elementary School, Brazelton Jr. High School and graduated in 1969 from Paducah Tilghman High School. He was also a graduate of Murray State University with a degree in history.
Frank began his broadcasting career at the age of 15 at WMOK in Metropolis, Illinois. His father would drive him to work every Sunday afternoon. As he gained radio experience, he moved on to WPAD Radio in Paducah and worked there through high school. He then traveled a few blocks down the street to WDXR Radio and TV, working their until 1973 when he joined Bristol Broadcasting WKYX and had a very successful morning talk show with John Stewart - The Frank & John Show. Their partnership lasted 32 years until John’s death in 2005.
On January 8, 1972, Frank married the love of his life, Sharon. They had two children, Trey (Frank III) in 1973 and Cindy in 1978. They also got their first golden retriever, Beau, in 1974 and that was only the beginning. Frank and Sharon had golden retrievers their entire married life, few were purchased, most of them were rescued and were loved like children. When Frank passed, he and Sharon had five.
Besides broadcasting, Franks other love was history and teaching at Ballard County Middle School and Ballard Memorial High School. He also coached football at Reidland High School.
Frank and Sharon spent many wonderful summers with their family on Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Margaret Brown.
Frank is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son Trey (Heather) Carvell of Paducah; a daughter, Cindy (Scott) White of Kevil; and grandchildren, Kiaya Young (Nathan), Selena Sullivan (Taylor), Annie and Maggie White, Saidee, Ben, Ethan and Vannie Carvell; a great-granddaughter, Maya Jane Sullivan.
A Memorial visitation for Frank will be held on Thursday evening, February 27, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah at 120 Memorial Dr.
Inurnment will take place at Grace Episcopal Church of Paducah Memory Gardens at a later date.
