Francis J. Scheer, age 93, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.
Francis was born to William Scheer Sr. & Mary Odelia Roof Scheer on May 11, 1932. Francis retired from the Illinois Central Railroad where he worked as a Machinist and Laborer. Francis was a longtime member of St. John Catholic Church and a resident of the St. John Community. He was a farmer and loved his tractors, especially any John Deere.
Francis was a true family man, loving his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved playing most any card game with friends and family.
Survivors include two daughters, Beth (Herman) Krimple of Paducah, Kentucky, and Monica (Ronnie) Spurlock of Andersonville, Tennessee; three sons, Charles Scheer, Timothy (Nina) Scheer, and Robert Scheer all of Paducah, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Russell Krimple, Kimberly (Patrick) Stone, Rachel (Justin) Riley, Emily (Brandon) Evans, Ron (Kayla) Spurlock, Ryan Krimple, Robie Scheer; eight great-grandchildren; Kade Krimple, Lane Krimple, Savannah Stone, Abigail Stone, Emma Riley, Bryson Evans, Elijah Evans, Tanner Spurlock; one sister, Mary Catherine Sutton of Paducah, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding his death were his wife on August 4, 2025, Dorothy Scheer; his infant daughter, Mary Scheer; his parents; two sisters, Mary Denise Willett and Marie Alsip; and four brothers, William Scheer Jr., Martin Scheer, Henry Scheer, and Maurice Scheer.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Bruce Fogle officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with prayers to be said at 4:30 p.m.
