Frances Marie Poole Sumner, age 94, left the physical Earth in the presence of her loving family on January 25th, 2024 at 1:13 pm.
Frances (Mom) was the proud mother of six children whom she loved and cared for her entire life. She was always working hard to make sure that we had everything we needed and she passed this on to spoiling her grandchildren and more. They were the joy of her life and the smile in her eyes (even in the last days) showed her love. She had a funny sense of humor that she did not show to everyone. The love of her life was our father, Virgil Ralph Sumner, who she was married for 49 years until his death in 1999. Their life was full of challenges, but most importantly love. She was a member of Oakton Baptist Church, loved gardening and repurposing furniture, clothes and anything she could repurpose for another use.
She left a very large clan of mismatched personalities of children who carry nuggets of her personality to continue the legacy.
She leaves behind four daughters and one son, Cindy (Jimmy) Brown of Columbus, KY, Ralph (Cheryl) Sumner of Draffenville, KY, Faith (Eric) Brose of New Orleans, LA, Janice Sumner Olguin of Mt Vernon, Il and Angela (Dave) Zetter of Mayfield, KY.
She has thirteen grandchildren, Renee (Henry) Cole, Lauren (Jason) Armbruster, Aaron (Christy) Brown, John Paul Sumner, Stephen (Melissa) Sumner, Matthew Sumner, Jason (Savannah) Frizzell, Abbott Frizzell, Bailee (Cole) Riley, Daniel Zetter, Erica Zetter, Dakota Sumner and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Sumner.
There are also twenty-one great-grandchildren, Jessie Cole, Anna Cole (Brady) Cox, Tolley (Megan) Cole, Eli Armbruster, Blythe Armbruster, Aaliyah Lumson (Jake) Abdelnaby, Alexis Lumson, Anton Lumson, Brooklyn Sumner (Jon) Wallace, Kaylee Sumner, Mikayla Conkright, Mason Sumner, Jasper Sumner, Brantly Sumner, Kasey Sumner, Jackson Frizzell, Jensen Frizzell, Spencer Frizzell, Ayden Bostick, Xander Almon, Lainee Riley; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Kinsleigh Roach and Greyson Wallace.
Mother was preceded in death by our father, Virgil Ralph Sumner; her youngest child, Douglas Tolbert Sumner; her parents, Ewin Tolbert and Artye Gladys Smitherman Poole; two sisters, Mary Katherine Roth and Dorothy Hughen; and two brothers, Ewin Tolbert Poole Jr. and Charles Poole.
