Faye Nance McNutt, 97, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away at on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Baptist Health Lexington. She was born on November 28, 1927 in Graves County, Kentucky to the late Jewell Nance and Ruth LeDuke Nance. Faye was retired from the Paducah City School System as a Physical Education Teacher and Coach for 27 years at Brazelton Junior High School. She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church.
Faye grew up on the family farm near the Lowes community. She loved to tell stories of all the variety of pets she kept. These animals varied from the traditional cats and beloved dogs, but also included all kinds of other animals such as ducks, rabbits, skunks, snakes and raccoons. She enjoyed watching all forms of wildlife and birds.
Faye graduated from Murray State University where she was a member of the women’s basketball team. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Tellus, but always known as to her as “Mac”. They were married in 1955 and over the years, because of his job as a bus driver, they were able to travel to all 50 states multiple times.
Faye served several years as a camp counselor in Indiana and Texas, where she taught canoeing skills. She had many hilarious stories to tell of her camp days, including the jokes that she played such as taking campers on snipe hunts. She continued her love of all things outdoors as her many hobbies and activities included camping, shooting, water skiing, biking and motorcycles. Faye was greatly loved by her family and was a great encourager, counselor, and inspiration to her daughter and granddaughters.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Nancy Snyder and husband, Steve of Nicholasville, Kentucky and two granddaughters, Stephanie Snyder of Lexington, Kentucky and Hannah Snyder of Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tellus “Mac” McNutt and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Deacon Gary Rudemiller officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Murray, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
