Eliza Jewel Cox, age 92, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 1:00 A.M. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at her home.
Eliza, known to many as “Granny” or “Janie”, was born in Knoxville County, Arkansas on Sunday, June 5, 1932, to Pierce and Murl Burton. Her passions in life were her devotion to her religion. She went to church as often as she could and daily reading of the Bible until her vision failed. Then audio of the Bible until her hearing failed. Regardless, her faith never failed. She loved her embroidery, quilting, gardening, canning, and puzzle books.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her daughter, Diane Blair (Richard) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; her sons, Gerald Guiling (Lois) and James Quintin Guiling, all of Paducah; her grandchildren, Michael Blair (Wynema), Paul Blair (Danielle), Glenda Renee White, Joe Guiling (Kara), Chris Guiling (Pam); her step-grandchildren, Marc, David and Dawn, multiple great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Hurley Quintin Guiling; her daughter, Connie White; her parents, Pierce Burton and Murl Carter Burton; her sister, Pauline Pixley; her brothers, Harold Burton and Pierce Burton, Jr.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Monte Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is scheduled from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Lone Oak Chapel.
