Dorothy Dowdy, age 81, of Calvert City, KY passed away at 1:33 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center. Dorothy was born July 27, 1942 to the late James Riley Gregory and Reba O’Brien Gregory. Dorothy was a member of Gilbertsville First Baptist Church and a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. Dorothy was retired from Lourdes Hospital where she worked as a nurse.
She loved fishing and golf but her quality time was spent being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Archie Lee Dowdy; one daughter, Tammy Whittington; two sons, Terry Dowdy and Brian Dowdy all of Calvert City; two sisters, Carol (Bill) Marcum, Murray, KY and Diane (James) Pulley, Decatur, Il; two brothers, Bill Gregory and Gary Gregory both of Paducah, KY; two grandsons, Brannon (Amy) Dowdy and Kohl Whittington; one great-grandchild, Harper Grace Dowdy; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were parents, two sisters, Ruby Gregory and Barbara Gregory three brothers, James Gregory, Sam Gregory and Earl Gregory.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Daryl Walker officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until service time of 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
