Dolores “Dolly” Marie Bardsley, nee Powell, age 83 of Calvert City, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky.
Dolly was born in East St. Louis, IL on September 4, 1941, to the late George and Rosemary Powell.
Dolly graduated from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois, Class of 1959, and attended Southern Illinois University. She was employed as an executive secretary for Pet Milk in St. Louis. After marrying Dr. John L. Bardsley, she worked for charitable organizations in Omaha, Nebraska, and St. Louis, Missouri, including St. John’s Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as President. She was an avid crafter and quilter and helped start the quilting group at St. Pius X / St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Churches, as well as the monthly “lunch bunch” program. She was an active member of the church choir at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Calvert City. Dolly enjoyed being a wife, mother, homemaker, and an excellent cook and baker.
Mrs. Bardsley is survived by two daughters, Christine Row (Peter) of Amhurst, New Hampshire, and Diana Schwartz of Orlando, Florida; her grandchildren, Kaileigh and Caitriona Row and Dylan and Sierra Schwartz; one sister, Georgia Bradshaw (Wayne) of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; beloved cousins, nieces and their families.
Mrs. Bardsley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Dr. John L. Bardsley; her parents, George Powell, Jr. and Rosemary Courtney Powell.
A memorial funeral mass is scheduled for 10 AM. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at St Pius X Catholic Church, Calvert City KY with Fr. Brian Johnson officiating.
