Donna Smith Dowdy, age 72, of Hendersonville, TN, formerly of Blandville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
Donna was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on February 2, 1950 to the late Arlie “Mossie” Smith and Juanita “Neat” Smith. She was a 1967 graduate of Ballard Memorial High School and was the second female member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #184. She started her apprenticeship with Local Union 184 in 1979 and was recognized as a journeyman in 1983. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Portland, Tennessee.
Donna loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a wonderful lady who was tough, thick skinned and always spoke her mind, but also outgoing and someone who never met a stranger.
Donna is survived by two daughters, Sherry Jordan of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Shannon Burnham of Hendersonville, Tennessee; one sister, Carol Dowdy (Jerry) of Blandville; three grandchildren, Alex Burnham, Brett Burnham and Shelby Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Blandville KY.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
