Donald “Duck” Ray Stokes, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Clinton Place in Clinton, Kentucky.
Born on October 18, 1945, in Calvert City, Kentucky, Donald was known for his profound love of airplanes. Donald was a member of the Baptist Faith and made sure to live true to his beliefs. He could often be found with his eyes cast skyward, marveling at the wonders of flight. Donald’s kindness was as natural and unfaltering as his daily walks and bike rides. Friends, family, and strangers alike were recipients of his warmth and generosity. Donald was always recognized as a hard worker; his ethic was unwavering, and his dedication was unmatched, helping out as a farmhand while growing up. Donald will be remembered for all these qualities and more. His life was lived fully and lovingly, marked by an unassuming nature and an innate ability to find joy in every moment.
Donald is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Velda Stokes, Wanda Heffington, and Merlene Pearson; four brothers, Richard Stokes, Curtis Stokes, Chris Stokes, and Eugene Stokes; his parents, Elmer and Elise Mae Bratcher Stokes; and his step-mother, Dorothy Stokes.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
