Don C. Mitchell age 90, of Kevil, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at his home. Don was a native of McLeansboro, IL and a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. Don was a retired Postmaster from Symsonia, Kentucky. Don enjoyed car racing and he was able to attend 58 consecutive Indianapolis 500 Races. He liked going to football games, baseball games, playing golf and had a keen interest in horse racing and at one time was a race horse owner.
Survivors include one daughter, Connie Dubbels, Paducah, KY; two sons, Donnie (Michelle) Mitchell, Scottsdale, AZ and Timothy (Tammy) Mitchell of Lone Oak; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Mitchell, Julie (Phil) Hoshiwara, Jamie Mitchell, Jeremie Hirsch, Shawna (Chad) Henson, Savannah Gardner and Zachary Dubbels; three great-granddaughters, Shaleigh Darnell, Sophie Hoshiwara and Addie Hoshiwara; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death was his wife, Dixie Lee Baldwin Mitchell ; parents, William Mitchell and Julia Harrelson Mitchell; three sisters, Mary Cluck, Vada Willis, Nadine Campbell and four brothers, Bill Mitchell, Ted Mitchell, Bob Mitchell and Tom Mitchell.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Burial will follow at McKendree Church Cemetery with Navy Military Honors.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until service time of 1:00 p.m. at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
