Mwenge Tsongo Mumbere, aged 74, of Paducah, Kentucky, was born on Saturday, December 16, 1950, in Teturi, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and passed away surrounded by love on Monday, January 27, 2025.
“DiDi,” as he was known to family and friends, was renowned for his dedication and work ethic. During his employment with the Paducah Area Transit System, he contributed his talents to the organization. His academic journey culminated in earning a Master's Degree in Homeland Security, reflecting his commitment to education and personal growth.
Beyond his professional life, DiDi was the cherished patriarch of his family in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he led multiple charitable actions toward the most vulnerable population in his beloved home country through his family foundation (FOJEMU). He faithfully attended the Central Church of Christ in Paducah, where he was a beloved member of the congregation. His spirit and legacy will continue guiding and inspiring everyone who knew him.
DiDi's life was a tapestry of love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family, faith, and community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Mr. Mumbere is survived by his wife, Nancy Dorene Gilliam Mumbere; his sister, Marie Claude Mumbere of Canada; his brothers, Fr. Joseph Mumbere of Brazil and Fr. Benjamin Mumbere of Italy; additional brothers and sisters living in the Congo, Achiles, Emmanuella, Virginia, Germaine, Deogracias, Rose, and Louise; his nieces, Natalie Kalinda, Mariejje Kalinga, and Joyce Kalinga; his nephews, Allain Mumbere and Yannick Kalinga; several other nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mumbere was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Mumbere and Suzanne Mwatsi Mumbere; and his brother, Dr. Telesphore.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Jim Faughn officiating. Burial will follow at Brook Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Friday, January 31, 2025, at the funeral home.
